Prior to his association with Monarch Financial Corporation, Robert Heuler served as a Vice President at Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania where he was a Senior Syndicator responsible for negotiating and structuring multi-bank transactions. He has spent approximately 30 years in mining with direct experience in finance, financial structuring, banking, project finance, resource development, operations, engineering, permitting and safety.

Previous to his syndications activity, he spent approximately 15 years lending to the mining industry and managed several lending groups at Mellon Bank, N.A. as the Director of Natural Resource Lending. Under his tutelage, Mellon Bank increased its mining industry exposure from $10 million to over $200 million, regionally. Previous to Mellon, Mr. Heuler built a nationwide portfolio at PNC Financial Corporation in coal, metals, minerals, electric utilities and construction companies totaling $120 million.

His involvement with the mining industry also involved employment at A. T. Massey, LTV Steel Corporation and Eastern Associated Coal (now part of Peabody Coal) as Chief Engineer, Project Engineer and Financial Analysis. He managed all engineering at a coal mine producing 4.0 million tons annually and supervised a $10 million capital expansion program. Operations during this period increased production on four operating sections from 300 to 600 clean tons per unit shift due, primarily in part, to a new government approved roof control and ventilation plan that he designed, negotiated, and implemented: The increased production resulted in a $9.7 million increase in net operating profit at 1982 prices.

At the age of 19 to 21 years old he managed a crew of unionized steelworkers fabricating rebars, as foreman, on the midnight shift that out produced the daylight production.

Mr. Heuler's rich, diverse professional background gives him an unusual blend of financial, marketing, management and technical skills. He has proven expertise in project financings, equipment leasing, private placements, acquisition financings, and mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.

Mr. Heuler holds a Bachelor's Degree in both Accounting and Mining Engineering from West Virginia University and Duquesne University. He received numerous sales awards at Mellon and PNC. He was a prior member of the Vesta Mine Rescue Team, West Virginia Mining and Reclamation Association and the American Institute of Mining Engineers. He received a full academic scholarship (1977 - 1980) and a full athletic scholarship (1971- 1975). He is active in community affairs holding office and coaching junior wrestling, soccer and baseball.
